       Dutch Treat

Donald B. Macmillan, CET, CSMA, was born October 1939 in St. Catherines, ON. His interest in ships led to an appointment to H.M.C.S. Venture and officer's training with the RCN at a early age.

He graduated from Ryerson Institute of Technology in architecture where he developed skill in the graphic arts. As an instructor at Sheridan College for eleven years he expanded these skills. After practicing architecture for 35 years he began to focus on his love of ships and art.

Helping with the restoration of a steam tug boat and sailing through the Baltic and Black Sea provided much inspiration and subject matter for his art. He illustrated the book "Saltwater Cocktales".

He has participated in shows in Oakville and Osaka, Japan as well as at RCN naval reunions. As part of the 100 years celebrations of the Canadian Navy, Don's work was published in the Warship International volume 47, no. 1, 2010. His work is in private and corporate collections in Canada, Japan, Russia, Sweden, Germany, Holland, Italy, Albania and Turkey.

His current focus is a series of heritage steamships in Eastern Canada from Halifax to the Lakehead.
